Primary Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and ensure adherence to best practices and architectural standards
• Drive technical decision-making processes, evaluating trade-offs and selecting appropriate technologies
• Architect, design, and develop complex, enterprise-scale applications using Java (Spring Boot, microservices), React, and/or Angular
• Design and implement cloud-native solutions on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), leveraging services like Kubernetes, serverless functions, and managed databases
• Define and enforce architectural patterns, standards, and best practices for full-stack development
• Ensure solutions are scalable, resilient, secure, and performant
• Engage in hands-on development for critical components and proof-of-concepts
• Oversee the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance
• Champion DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code
• Collaborate closely with product managers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Partner with other architects and technical leaders to ensure alignment with broader enterprise architecture strategies
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices, evaluating their potential impact and application within Optum
• Drive innovation by prototyping new solutions and advocating for the adoption of modern technologies and methodologies
• Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 12+ years of professional software development experience
• 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership or software architecture role
• Significant hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React AND/OR Angular, along with HTML5, CSS3, and TypeScript
• Demonstrable experience designing, building, and deploying applications on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and event-driven design patterns
• Proven deep expertise in Java and related frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate)
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Proven excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
• Proven solid communication, interpersonal, and leadership abilities
