The Overdose Prevention Coordinator is a community-facing role that supports local overdose prevention efforts and expands programs and collaborations. This position engages with assigned communities through training and education on both opioid and other identified substance overdose prevention, including but not limited to the distribution of naloxone, and collaborates with multisector stakeholder groups to enhance overdose prevention initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Build Collaborative Relationships: Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with multisector stakeholder groups, such as, but not limited to, the Louisiana Department of Health’s Harm Reduction Distribution Hub and Louisiana Advisory Council on Heroin and Opioid Prevention and Education (HOPE Council). Utilize data to engage and partner with stakeholders on overdose prevention, treatment, harm reduction, and emergency response planning
- Deliver Training Programs: Develop and execute comprehensive training programs, leveraging expertise in presenting to large groups to enhance learning outcomes
- Community Engagement: Utilize advanced clinical skills to engage and motivate community members, addressing stigma through stigma-reducing tactics. Increase public awareness by conducting trainings and sharing knowledge on the opioid crisis, addiction brain science, compassion fatigue, and naloxone administration. Coordinate with providers to engage members with opioid use disorder (OUD) in continuous treatment with pharmacotherapy, increasing the chance for positive outcomes
- Serve as a Liaison: Act as a liaison and connecting point within assigned regions, serving as a subject matter expert on the opioid epidemic, overdose prevention, and harm reduction
- Identify and Develop Programs: Identify new programs, services, and market gaps. Share information with clinical and network teams to support service development. Utilize data analysis and stratification across key demographics such as race, ethnicity, age and ZIP Code to identify disparities and implement targeted interventions, such as provider education on the importance of pharmacotherapy to treat OUD
You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
Required Qualifications:
