The Medical Assistant works to assist clinicians in providing health care at clinic locations.  A Medical Assistant serves the patient and all members of the health care team by gathering and maintaining the necessary medical information in a cheerful, friendly, personable manner.  This role provides quality patient care and helps to establish rapport between the clinician and patient. The Associate Medical Assistant works to assist clinicians in providing health care at clinic locations.  A Medical Assistant serves the patient and all members of the health care team by gathering and maintaining the necessary medical information in a cheerful, friendly, personable manner.  This role provides quality patient care and helps to establish rapport between the clinician and patient.

Primary Location: 4045 Hempstead Turnpike 2nd floor, Bethpage, NY with occasional coverage in other departments required based on operational needs

Hours: 37.5 total hours per week. Monday – Thursday 9:00am – 5:00pm and Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm

Primary Specialty: Neurology with the opportunity to cover in other specialties as needed

 

Primary Responsibilities:  

  • Rooms patients by verifying identity, collecting and documenting vital signs, and updating medical records accurately in the Electronic Medical Record
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment and documents chief complaints
  • Retrieves laboratory and radiology test results and instructs patients regarding medications and treatment per clinician’s instructions
  • Responds to patient inquiries through MyChart by addressing routine questions, routing prescription requests to appropriate providers, and coordinating the ordering of medical supplies
  • Stocks supplies and prepares exam rooms and instruments for examinations, testing, or minor surgeries
  • Complete prior authorizations by reviewing requests, verifying that all required documentation is included, and facilitating approvals in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Potential for heavy phone usage. Responds to incoming phone calls and refers if necessary. Calls patients as necessary to follow up and/or schedule appointments
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently by managing tasks with minimal supervision

Required Qualifications:  

  • 1+ years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
  • Experience with PC and Microsoft Office 
  • Experience working with electronic medical records

 

Preferred Qualifications:    

  • Medical Assistant certification
  • 2+ years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting 
  • Experience working with EPIC EMR software
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Prior authorization experience
  • EKG experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

 

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $27.69 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
