Our Responsible AI Program, which includes AI governance and operations, supports AI teams across UnitedHealth Group with a holistic, structured, and cross-disciplined review of AI.

 

In this newly created critical role, we are seeking a skilled senior technical program manager to serve as our Associate Director, Enablement and Automation Lead for the Office of Responsible AI.  You will apply your expertise in leading the operations and execution of multiple enablement and automation projects within our Responsible AI Program portfolio.  You will play a critical role in operationalizing and scaling the governance infrastructure that supports UHG’s enterprise-wide Responsible AI Program. This role is ideal for a thought partner, an empathetic colleague, a strategic thinker, and execution-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.  
 

As a seasoned orchestrator, you will navigate the strategic development of business requirements, bridging the gap between cross-functional technical/tech-savvy teams to realize the AI governance vision.   You will develop the programmatic approach and lead the charge in program planning and all related launch activities tied to procuring, securing, and deploying a new governance workflow solution.

 

You are a champion of PMO best practices across the Office of Responsible AI and our enterprise counterparts. You will develop, implement program plans, risk management practices, and stakeholder engagement strategies.  In leading dynamic team meetings to foster cross-team collaboration, you are partnership-minded and a confident decision-maker, ensuring program alignment and executive buy-in and support.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring and maintaining quality practices in the consistency of process, procedures, and messaging across Responsible AI platforms, program documentation, guidance documentation, and end-user training. You will contribute to identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, and balance shifting priorities toward the overall mission of the program.

 

You will be a hands-on enthusiastic learner on all things automation engineering, data analytics, and data visualization practices.  You will build knowledge of artificial intelligence concepts to attain expertise on topics related to Responsible AI, such as how to evaluate AI for performance, fairness, or security.  In this central role, you will influence across the enterprise by interacting with enterprise compliance partners, data science leaders and functional business executives to educate and advise on key concepts related to responsible AI. This role is essential to the company’s success as the Responsible AI Program has increasing requirements for standards based on emerging technology and to meet the increasing market demand.

Primary Responsibilities:

Governance Workflow Solution Ownership:

  • Lead the evaluation and selection of a new governance workflow solution vendor to support Responsible AI processes
  • Oversee implementation and integration of the selected solution across business and technology teams
  • Ensure the solution aligns with UHG’s enterprise governance, compliance, and risk management standards
  • Lead end-to-end implementation of selected solutions for technical tooling and automation, which includes configuration, testing and debugging to ensure smooth deployment, writing/producing system documentation and user training
  • Work with cross-functional technical and business stakeholders to ensure quality throughout the configuration and deployment process, end-to-end

Automation & Efficiency Enablement:

  • Support Responsible AI stakeholders to streamline governance workflows and ensure all automation activities comply with regulatory standards
  • Identify and implement process automation opportunities to streamline Responsible AI workflows
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to design and deploy tools that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual overhead
  • Develop dashboards and reporting mechanisms to track automation impact and adoption

Program & Stakeholder Enablement:

  • Collaborate with program leads, data scientists, engineers, and compliance teams to understand enablement needs
  • Translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Serve as a key liaison between the Responsible AI Program and enterprise technology teams

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in technical program management, preferably within a complex, dynamic, enterprise-wide governance and compliance program
  • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence or data analytics
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building and managing a suite of data-driven reports, preferably in Power BI
  • Proven solid communication and stakeholder management skills with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-partner programs with cross-functional teams
  • Proven deep understanding of data modeling and visualization best practices
  • Proven solid storytelling skills through data visualization
  • Proven solid ability to access, manipulate, and analyze data in low-code environment
  • Experience with SQL and other datasets for data manipulation and extraction
  • Proven excellent problem solving, troubleshooting skills and comfort-level in resolving technical process issues
  • Ability to be partnership minded with stellar time management acumen
  • Seasoned proficiency with project management practices, principles, and tools
  • Demonstrated comfort level with core technologies such as CRM systems which include ServiceNow, Salesforce, or similar technologies. Fluid aptitude in navigating advanced features of Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Excel/pivot tables

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience owning end-to-end program management
  • Experience owning end to end automation and technical enablement deployments
  • Technical experience in data analytics, data visualization, and related automation-experience in Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification, Lean Six Sigma experience or equivalent
  • Familiarity with Responsible AI principles, model risk management or AI assurance practices
  • Experience in AI, data, or related governance functions, establishing or enforcing best practices, standards, and ethics
  • Experience supporting audit readiness or regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Experience working with cross-functional and distributed teams in a global and diverse environment
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated industries

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
