We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead ideation and discovery initiatives with a profound impact on outcomes and affordability in the pharmaceutical space. This role requires an advanced understanding of managed care, including experience with P&T committees, governance bodies, comparative efficacy and safety drug reviews, and various lines of business (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial). This role will be required to provide pharmacotherapeutic subject matter expertise in all disease areas and be able to contribute to overall clinical content strategy. This role requires a high level of comfort with verbal presentations to various committees, our external markets, and physician leadership.  This role requires advanced communication skills, both written and oral, ability to function in a highly matrixed team environment. The work role is for individual contribution but requires both independent and teamwork, the ability to lead from behind and support, the ability to capture the work vision and develop work plans, and commitment to deliver to deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide pharmacotherapeutic expertise across all disease areas
  • Contribute to the overall clinical content strategy
  • Develop high-impact solutions aligned with the core strategies and goals of UHC, Optum, and Care Delivery Organizations
  • Create and present verbally to various committees, external markets, and physician and senior leadership
  • Function effectively in a highly matrixed team environment, balancing independent work with teamwork
  • Lead from behind, support team efforts, capture the work vision, develop work plans, and commit to delivering on deadlines
  • Assist in the development and management of evidenced-based clinical pharmacy initiatives or programs across the clinical consistency lifecycle
    • Research and develop therapeutic clinical comparative efficacy and safety reviews from primary literature resources for the National Value and Therapeutics Committee
    • Ability to synthesize clinical evidence-based medicine to support and drive strategic business opportunities
    • Develop and lead various subcommittees with internal and external partners to drive work collateral and initiatives to consensus
    • Ability to synthesize complex information to present to providers for clinical detailing programs and pipeline monitoring
    • Develop clinical guidelines, algorithms, and pathways clinical care models
  • Ability to manage an individual project or assist in the development or support of specific deliverables of project applying individual prioritization to work plans to accomplish specific tasks to deadline
    • Act as a subject matter expert for functionally diverse project teams to achieve desired end-results on complex problems regarding projects
  • Establish lasting relationships with internal relevant businesses for strategic alignment to work initiatives
    • Develop and maintain a network of business contacts to drive collaboration, support and business intelligence
  • Ability to engage in strategic business and market needs conversations; utilizing such information to drive the building of customers-centered solutions
  • Supports engagement efforts with technology or operations on requirements and approach for desired business outcomes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD
  • 3+ years of Pharmacist experience OR completion of a residency or fellowship in one of the following areas:  Managed Care, Planned Benefit Manager, Health Plan, or health management consulting
  • 3+ years of experience developing/managing/directing large scale projects 
  • 1+ year of experience conducting research and analysis of clinical outcomes and drug effectiveness
  • Experience with pharmacy and medical claims and knowledge of medical and pharmacy billing
  • Experience successfully driving independent problem solving and developing systemic solutions
  • Experience summarizing information and succinctly communicating analysis verbally and in writing  
  • Experience effectively presenting information and interacting with senior leadership, physicians,  
  • Experience with P&T committees, governance bodies, and drug reviews
  • P&T Committee experience
  • Drug Intelligence experience
  • Proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint, advanced skills in Excel (pivot tables, formulas)
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced understanding of managed care and benefit structures.
  • Formal Training in Health Economic Outcomes Research (HEOR)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $89,900 to $160,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
