General Statement of Duties: Performs technical duties associated with the preparation of histopathological slides for Mohs surgeon to review.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs tissue processing, embedding, cutting and slide preparation
  • Capable of performing tissue description, dissection, embedding, and microtomy for optimal diagnostic evaluation of specimens
  • Stains slides manually or by automated staining methods
  • Troubleshoots and resolves technical problems involving methodology, technique, and instrumentation utilization.
  • Monitors environmental conditions in the lab
  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Actively supports and assists in implementation and monitoring of quality control and quality assurance policies

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Knowledge of pathology laboratory procedures, equipment and standards. Knowledge of medical terminology related to the pathology laboratory. Knowledge of safety requirements to recognize hazardous conditions. Skill in performing all technical duties related to preparing histopathological slides. Skill in identifying and resolving technical problems. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in related science as approved by accrediting agency
  • NYS Histotechnician License or higher license

Preferred Qualification:

  • 1+ years experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $23.41 to $41.83+ per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
