Reporting to the VP, Strategy, Optum Serve, this position leads high-impact strategic and financial projects within and across the organization. This position will work with executive, business and growth leadership to frame the market, identify strategic market opportunities, build analytics-based strategic plans, and drive actionable decisions. Additionally, this position will focus on long-range forecasting and strategic financial initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development, communication, and execution of M&A strategy, including market framing, identification and management of target pipeline, and evaluation of target opportunities 
  • Lead M&A projects for Optum Serve including identification, investment thesis development, due diligence assessment, and integration planning
  • Identify opportunities for new clients, markets, and service offerings in partnership with Growth and Product leadership through data-driven market analysis
  • Solve complex business problems and strategy questions using advanced analytics, providing recommendations and results that drive decision-making
  • Matrixed to CFO, provide long-range strategic financial forecasts, determining the optimal method for forecasting and incorporating detailed forecast and analysis developed in partnership with business lines and long-range strategy and assumptions
  • Matrixed to CFO, drive strategic financial projects through data modeling and analysis using sound analytic approaches/methodologies and balancing data and analytic theory with practice business realities
  • Orchestrate Optum Serve balanced scorecard initiatives focused on cost and efficiency
  • Provide reports, presentations, and visualization to effectively communicate data analysis and strategic insights to a wide range of stakeholders and leaders
  • Develop and maintain solid business relationships with executives, key decision makers and key stakeholders
  • Support OS executives in determining, articulating, and executing Optum Serve vision, mission, strategies, and tactics to achieve unified goals
  • Support business-level strategy development and execution, ensuring alignment to Optum Serve strategy
  • Lead a matrixed team of multiple layers of management and senior level team members to achieve objective and drive performance and outcomes through influence and exercising shadow leadership

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience in operational M&A transaction in all phases of the deal lifecycle from identification to post-close integration, including pipeline development, due diligence assessment, financial modeling and valuation and integration planning
  • 3+ years of experience in federal government market
  • 3+ years of financial analysis and forecasting experience
  • Experience in leading multiple, diverse and complex initiatives in an ambiguous environment with rapidly changing priorities
  • Experience leading in and successfully navigating a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in building complex data models, and performing data- and model-driven analysis that leads to actionable results 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying mathematical and statistical methods to assess risks, forecast growth, and solve business challenge
  • Demonstrated c-suite and executive-level engagement and communication skills (persuasive written, oral, and presentation skills)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience working in the healthcare industry
  • M&A experience in federal market
  • Knowledge of general-purpose programming language
  • Knowledge and experience with industry and market trends relevant to Optum Serve’s mission and goals
  • Established track record of leading multiple cross-functional projects and initiatives concurrently

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you’ll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $132,200 to $226,600 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
